After nearly 20 years dealing with inkjet and laser printers I'm finally changing my attitude towards refilled ink and re-manufactured toner cartridges. I still think that a great many of these cartridges are done back alley, by using syringes for inks and drilling holes for toner which is only going to lead to increased costs and equipment failure, but there are new techniques and systems that give you original quality. |

Why Did You Stop Using Windows Defender & Adaware? This FAQ is in anticipation of this question of our recent decision to stop using Windows Defender & Adaware on our new systems and in our tune up process. First the other products we use are more consistantly catching the malware that these two products protect you from. This means that once we run the other products and clean the malware off the computer, these two products aren't finding any residual bad guys. This means we are wasting time, adding software to your systems that aren't needed, and increasing the tax on your computer memory and storage space. |

After hurricane Ivan and Dennis our shop took in dozens of computers that wouldn't power on. Many were caused by the power surges from generators, from the utility company, or from electrical storms. However, there were many that had picked up a bug, literally. |

With the exception of the occasional toddler feeding a computer some cold cereal and milk, most of us wouldn't think of using our beloved computer for storing cold cuts, nightly leftovers, or roast beef. However many customers of mine seem to use their computer as a refrigerator none the less. Ok so I really haven't found a roast beef in a computer yet, however potentially as bad is the use of magnets on the outside of the computer case. |

Well the prognosis is in and your computer has a System Transmitted Disease (STD) and I often get the response “But I used anti-virus protection, so how did I get a virus?” First let's understand that anti-virus software is reactionary. This means that a virus must exist before it can be discovered, a cure created, and a cure provided to your pc. |
