Trash Sites

Trash sites are popping up all over the place trying to provide you a "better" Better Business Bureau service without the attempt to provide a fair and professional method of evaluating the gossip like complaints, verifying them, or allowing a business a chance to refute the libellous nature of these complaints.

Sites like ripoffreport.com and angieslist.com hide behind the anonymity of the internet, using distance to isolate themselves from lawsuits, and requiring business owners to "sign up" to see or answer a complaint.  Their Terms of service require that you agree to not sue them or settle for arbitration in order to gain access to their site.

I call them trash sites because their only purpose is to allow businesses to be trashed.  This means that anonymous malicious pranksters can make up anything they want, competitors can secretly campaign against each other, and angry customers that didnt get their way can try to do harm.

As we find complaints on these sites, we will reprint them here and proivide an answer to the complaint.   Since some people won't even give a business a chance to consider their discontent, where applicable we will admit fault and explain how we hope to do better in the future.

We do the best we can to provide our customers fair and honest service, but unfornately the customer isn't always right.  Too many people try to take advantage of businesses to get "their way" knowingly trying to cheat a business, or refusing to take responsibility for their decisions and actions.  If you are one of these people, you wont be the first or the last to be refused service.

If you are a member of one of these trash sites and see complaints on our buisness, we would like to see them.

6/29/2010 Ripoff Report

6/29/2010 7:31 PM Panther Computers does work that you dont request, and will only take cash to get your merchendise back Milton, Florida

When you take your computer in for repairs, he not only repairs your computer, but will download any program he chooses, even if you don't know or request. When you tell him that you did not want this program, he tells you that he does it to every computer he works on. I told him this was not disclosed on his claim ticket. I was told that his disclosure is posted on his website. I did not find him via his website, I found him by seeing his shop. I was told "oh well" and that I needed to pay in cash or credit card in order to get my computer back, and also not to come back to his store. He did not need customers like me. A business that will not accept checks should wave a red flag.

I will address the details a bit later.  But, I think that most resonable people will recognize a ranting lunatic when they read their dialog.

Checks are costly, we had customers bounce $1300 in checks after Hurricane Dennis.  We can't afford that, and keep good company like Texas Road House, and China Sea Buffett who also don't accept checks last time I ate there.  We also have a no checks sign posted in the store and on this website. Panther Computers takes all major credit cards, debit cards, Google Checkout, PayPal, and of course cash.  All credit cards requires identification that matches the name on the card.

12/22/2009 Ripoff Report

12/22/2009 4:03 PM Panther Computers WILL THREATEN YOU WITH POLICE WHEN YOU TRY TO RETURN A ITEM milton, Florida

I questioned him about how he was treating me and then he picks up his portable phone and threatens to call the police in front of my seven year old son! WHAT A COWARD! I had no choice but to leave! All of this over a $13 computer part! Consumers be warned go elsewere! DO NOT USE PANTHER COMPUTERS IN MILTON FLORIDA!!!!!!

Here you will see the local BBB summary of this same ridiculous complaint.  This customer's intent should be obvious, to defame us becuase he couldn't intimidate us.

Here was our response to the BBB:

The customer did indeed attempt to return a network card without receipt, and per in store displayed and on our website provided store policy, as is with many major box stores, the original receipt is required for all returns. The customers perception of rudeness is his own and in our opinion exaggerated.

He did return the second day with the receipt, and is per our right to inspect that the item is the original item and is in obvious good condition, we found that he did not place the original network card into the original static protected packaging that it came in, but that he had placed it in an ordinary plastic, static generating bag with a piece of scotch tape on it. Scotch tape generates 10,000 volts of static electricity when it is pulled from the roll, therefore there is a high probability of damage to the device. Store policy indicates that the items must be in the original packaging and in undamaged condition. It is apparent that the customer has inadequate knowledge to have attempted to install this device himself, and that increases the likelihood of the item being damaged.

The customer, was rude to us the first day from our perspective, and continued his obnoxious behavior the second day. We did indeed ask him to leave as his demeaning attitude continued and the atmosphere deteriorated. Instead of letting an escalation occur, we informed him upon his refusal to leave that he was trespassing and the police would be called. This is standard practice with those few people that wish to impose their presence in a negative or threatening manner. This customer is no longer allowed at our Store or he will be arrested for trespassing.
