A Change In Our Approach

Panther Computers has decided to make our 7th Anniversary present permanent and provide our cash strapped economy free diagnostics. How can we do this? Will we adopt the hook you and crook you that some competitors do? Never!
Our business model before was to charge $30 for a diagnostic and include most simple repairs in that cost. Corrupted hard drive, install a new modem, ghost a hard drive to a new one and the labor was already covered by the diagnostic fee. If more labor or parts were required, you were always informed and given the opportunity to forgo any other charges or repairs. Many competitors do the work and shanghi you when you come to pick up the computer with the higher overall cost. We've distinguished ourselves by doing business by the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
This business method of charging for a diagnostic has been more than fair, but we have many computers dumped on us, cheating us of our rightful inexpensive diagnostic fee when people find out how much it will cost to repair. They don't feel obligated or can't afford to even pay the $30 and leave the equipment with us to contend with.
With the cost of computers where they are, I don't think I'd want to pay someone to tell me my old PC is dead when that $30 could have gone towards a new one. It is this reason that we are making the free diagnostic permanent. How, you may ask, will you cover your costs of doing the evaluation? I am a straight forward man so here it is.
We have not increased our rates in almost two years. We have now increased all but the on-site rates and the laptop repairs by $5. We know in most cases that what you, a friend, or a competitor thinks is unrepairable, is indeed repairable and at a reasonable cost well below the cost of a new system. We are sure that the increased traffic for free diagnostics will give us greater chance for showing you the work we can perform and it will more than offset the completely dead systems that will result in zero income.
If you read our CyberStupid Articles you can see that there are many shortcuts applied by other shops that are often not in your best interest and usually favor them. This means there are many computers that could have been fixed inexpensively, and we know we can make it happen for many of you. So whether it is a free diagnostic or a free second opinion, you may be better served to allow us to let you know your true status before you buy from them, or go to the box store for a discount PC.
